280 Mesh screens are best used with water based inks, and work well for halftone and other high detail graphics. Great for screen printing on paper! Our aluminum screen frames are constructed with 6063T5 alloy, making them extremely durable and long lasting. Each screen is hand cut and welded to insure a water tight seal. After they are cut and welded, they are sanded smooth for flatness.
Getting your screen professionally pre-coated with emulsion saves you a
lot of time and money if you are prone to spilling emulsion and doing a
generally poor coat job. Our pre-coated screens ship in light safe bags
and arrive ready to expose, so you can open the bag and go straight to
Without the proper equipment and experience, exposing screens can be a
real hassle. Beginning screen printers will often give up on the craft
because of their inability to burn a screen correctly. But not anymore!
Our screen burning service makes it ridiculously easy to get your image
professionally burned onto a screen, so all you have to worry about is
printing your design.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you don't find an answer to your question below, please email us at info
@Anthemprintingsf.com When/Where do I upload my artwork?
After you add your screens of choice to your cart and check out, you will be directed to an order confirmation page with an artwork uploader. Upload your artwork file/s to this form, put your Order # in the specified field, and add any specifications you'd like us to know about.
How should I format my artwork?
Please refer to our artwork requirements found
here How do I know how my screen will come out?
When you upload your artwork, there is an option to request a free digital proof. If this option is selected, we will send you a digital representation of the screen prior to burning and shipping it out. We allow up to two additional revision mockups if you'd like anything changed. Further revision mockups will incur an additional $5 fee each.
Does the mesh come stretched on a frame?
Yes, all of our screens ship pre-stretched on high quality aluminum frames. Most of our screens are stretched to around 20 Newtons. When you receive the screen, simply remove from box, put on your press, tape the edges, and start printing.
What if I order the wrong size or mesh count?
If you are not sure what size screen or mesh count you need, we recommend you contact one of our sales reps or email us at art
@anthemprintingsf.com for assistance prior to placing your order. Any screen that needs to be swapped out after an order is placed is subject to a $10 re-stocking fee. Do you include the film with the screen?
We do! Depending on the size of your screen, we either place the films in a large manilla folder taped to the protective pad on top of the screen, or rolled in Kraft paper taped underneath the bottom screen.
How large can my image be?
Our 20"x24" screens have a max Image Area of 12"x16". This is the total space available for your artwork to fit in to, and should be the canvas size of the artwork you upload with your order.
Why is the image area smaller than the screen?
The screen dimensions include the actual frame, which consists of
1.5" walls. This means a 20"x24" screen actually has a 17"x21" inner dimension. Your image should be at least 2.5" away from these inner walls of the frame to allow room for your squeegee, ink, and areas of mesh that are too taught, which brings the max printable area of a 20"x24" screen down to 12"x16". These same basic principles apply to all other screen frame sizes.
Can I fit multiple images on my screen?
Absolutely! You can place as many images as you want in the allotted "Image Area" for your screen size. Just keep in mind that the more images you have burned on the screen, the more taping you will have to do and the more difficult it will be to print with.
Can you burn multi-color artwork on screens?
Of course! Simply add the amount of screens required to your cart (for example, a 3 color design requires 3 screens), and we'll take care of the rest. We make sure the color layers get burned precisely in the same spot on the screens to make registration easy on your end, and we also add top and bottom registration marks by default.
How do I clean my screen/s?
If using water based ink, simply wash the ink off with water immediately after use. If using plastisol, use an ink degradent such as our
EnviroWipe. How long will the image on my screen last?
As long as the screen is used and cared for properly, the burned image should withstand thousands of prints. Use screen chemicals sparingly, keep mesh away from sharp objects, don't scrub screen with extremely rough surfaces, etc.
How long will it take for my screen/s to ship?
Orders placed before 4pm (PST) are ready to ship the following business day, as long as the
print ready artwork is also received by 4pm. Please note this only applies to screens that are in stock at our warehouse. If you are able to add the screen to your cart and check out, the screen is in stock. My screen ripped, what do I do?
If your screen arrived with a tear, please notify us within 48 hours of receipt along with a picture of the torn screen, and we can send out a replacement right away. After 48 hours of receipt, we are unable to offer any replacements or credits.
What if I need to cancel my order?
Pre-burned screens are subject to a $20 cancellation fee per screen if they have already been coated with emulsion. Screens ordered before 4pm PST are coated that night, so please let us know right away if you need to cancel an order to avoid the cancellation fee.
